ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Daphne

and mommy to a feisty little boy

When my husband and I were expecting, it was in the midst of the pandemic - with no birth prep courses and no friends or family available. Even stores to shop baby's accessories were closed.

Being very type A, I prepared as best as I could for our new life with baby. We bought everything we thought we would need, based on what we had read about pregnancy, birth and babies, watched everything on YouTube and felt quite prepared.

After our son was born and we came home the first day, reality hit like a ton of bricks. While many things we had learned in the months prior were helpful in general, nothing had prepared us for the actual day-to-day life with a baby or postpartum care for a mom and family: what that all would really look like, from the first day you come home all throughout the first year of countless firsts.

I realized then that most that I head learned before becoming a mother was about pregnancy and birth. And even the available information about babies and postpartum wasn't as honest or reality related as I would have wished for. Through our many struggles in this first year with our son, we wrote everything down that would have helped us to be aware of in advance. From your rights as expecting parents in terms of birth, health care, child care or work to the reality of baby sleep (that no one likes to talk about) or the panic of feeding your baby solids for the first time.

That's how parent prep was born: out of a necessity in our own lives, an educational course for expecting parents was created.

I look forward to meeting you and your growing family!

Daphne

MY APPROACH

Honesty & Transparency

One thing that I felt was missing about the available information around pregnancy, child birth and postpartum / newborn care was truthfulness and usefulness. Hands-on guidelines, clear information on day-to-day life as a new parent.

The good, the bad and the ugly so to speak. In sharing the realness of parenthood we become not only more prepared for this new life, but also build a much bigger village around us and thus a happier, stronger family for ourselves and our kids, as well as our society.
